Why this place matters
The council identifies Meopham as an uncommon six-sided smock mill and describes surviving milling machinery. The statutory listing names the Killick brothers and gives a date of 1801; the visitor page instead says about 1820.
The lower part of the mill also has a civic role: the council describes a chamber within the hexagonal base and parish offices adjoining it. The site therefore combines industrial preservation with continuing local use.

What to look for
Compare its six-sided form with the more familiar octagonal smock mills elsewhere in the county. Look at how the brick base supports the weatherboarded upper structure and ask how the internal working floors fit that shape.
A visit should distinguish public tour spaces from offices and other occupied rooms. Continuing use helps sustain a historic building, but it means access can be more selective than the outline of its legal designation suggests.
